7 Easy Ways to Promote Your Podcast: A Quick Tutorial for Entrepreneurs

Every entrepreneur should have their own podcast. And every podcaster should have a podcast promotion plan. I previously shared the easiest way to start a podcast for your business, so today let’s dive into easy ways to promote your podcast episodes.

Release at Least 3 Episodes When You Launch

If you haven’t started your podcast yet, I recommend releasing at least three episodes when you launch. Or if you recently got started and only have one episode, it’s time to publish at least two more. We live in an instant gratification world and we love to binge things we like, so hook listeners in by giving them at least three episodes to consume, enjoy and share from the very beginning. You’d be surprised at how disgruntled listeners can be when they like a podcast, but can only listen to one episode. Start off strong by giving them a virtual cup full of your content that keeps them coming back and wanting more.

Publish Your Podcast As Posts On Your Blog

Cross Promotion is one of my, favorite, easy, free, SEO-friendly, online marketing strategies. Create a podcast category on your blog. Every entrepreneur should have a blog for their business brand. If you don’t have one, you can set one up today using WordPress. Within your blog posting area, you’ll want to add each new podcast episode as a new post on your blog. For example, I use Anchor.fm to host one of my podcasts for entrepreneurs, and I can copy the embed code for each episode’s podcast audio player and add it to my blog posts. This gives people the ability to play your episodes directly from your website via your blog. You can paraphrase key points, highlight hot topics, and feature tweetable quotes worth mentioning and sharing. If you have the time you can include show notes; which time stamp the exact time-specific topics were mentioned during that episode of your show.

Distribute Your Podcast Across Multiple Platforms

I use and highly recommend the Anchor.fm platform for hosting your podcast. Once you create your first few episodes, review the section on distributing your podcast across multiple platforms including iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and more. This is a great way to give more people the opportunity to search for and find your podcast on these platforms and also popular search engines like Google. Expand your business brand, and help more podcast listeners and potential customers find you by taking the time to have your podcast listed across multiple podcast platforms.

Turn Your Podcast into a PDF Lead Magnet

If you have at least 3 to 5 podcast episodes, you can create a great lead magnet with text descriptions, quotes, and links to listen to each episode. If you have a podcast with well over ten episodes, create a click book guide, which is a binge-worthy resource full of your podcast episode titles and easy access links for interested listeners. You can use this PDF as a free resource to grow your list and/or include it as a bonus to your paid digital product offers.

Turn Your Audio into Video

Some podcasting platforms, like Anchor.fm include the ability to convert your audio content into video. Or you can use platforms like Wavve.co, Headliner.app, or Canva, to create videos from audio content. Alternatively, many podcasters now record their episodes as videos first for publishing on platforms like YouTube and then export the audio to share on their audio-only podcast platforms. This is an easy way to share the same podcast episode content in different rich media formats; as both mp3 audio and mp4 video.

Share Your New Episodes on Social Media

You can use Canva to create new podcast episode graphics or video clips from your episodes that you can post across your social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, and LinkedIn. This is a great way to inform new and existing followers of your latest podcast episodes.

Email Your Audience

Every entrepreneur should have an email list. If you need to start working on yours, I use and highly recommend ConvertKit; the best list-building tool for entrepreneurs. If you have one, you start to email your list invitations to listening to new episodes. You can also take things to the next level by including your latest episodes within a weekly or monthly email newsletter.
