Easiest Way to Start a Podcast for Your Business Today

Every entrepreneur should have a podcast. Podcasting is a great way to share your expertise, reach new customers, build a following around your brand, repurpose your content, promote your business, and the list goes on. There are truly so many amazing things that you can do for others and for your business by starting your own branded podcast. And best of all you can start a podcast for your business for free or practically free. If you are ready, dive into this quick and easy tutorial on how to start a podcast for your business today.

Find Your Focus
Think about what kind of podcast you want to create. What’s your area of expertise? What do you want to be known for? What will be the theme of your podcast show? Can you identify at least three core topics you’d like to focus on? What kind of people are you trying to reach?

Name Your Podcast

Your Podcast Name should help to expand your business brand. In some way, your podcast title should be connected to you and the things that you do or offer as part of your business. The easiest option is to incorporate your business name into the title of your podcast. If you are an author, coach, or service provider, consider naming your podcast after yourself. You can think of it as an extension of your personal brand or lifestyle brand (if you have one). If you have a ministry, community, or branded network, consider using your group name within your podcast title.

Start with Anchor.fm

Over the years I’ve used different platforms to host my podcast content including Podbean and Libsyn, just to name a few. The easiest (and best) no-cost podcasting tool you should use to get started is Anchor.fm. Download the Anchor App, create an account, and get started.

Outline Your First Episode

Use the first episode of your podcast to set the tone of your show. Introduce yourself, share a little bit about your story, the types of topics you plan to explore on your show. Also consider taking a few minutes to discuss one topic that matters most to you right now, using that as the focal point of your first episode. Essentially the title of your first episode should come from this may focus topic, whether you choose to share some tips, your point of view, words of inspiration or simple starter suggestions. Focus on one topic you’d like to start an initial discussion around and continue discussing on your show from the very first episode.

Record Your First Episode

Take action by recording your first podcast episode. Open the Anchor.fm app on your mobile device. Log into your new account and record your first episode. Make it conversational. Make it fun. Make it you. Make it real. You can add background music, and upload a cover graphic. Be sure to title your episode and add a description. You can save your episode as a draft and share it with friends for initial input or you can jump right into the wonderful world of podcasting by hitting publish and sharing your first amazing episode with the world. Have fun with the podcasting process from the very beginning. Just know that you don’t have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great. It will get better with time, so jump in, have faith, and get started. And be sure to explore all the cool features that Anchor has to offer including the ability to have your podcast distributed on popular podcasting platforms like Apple Itunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and more to help you reach more and expand your business brand.

That’s it, boss! Don’t overcomplicate this process to the point where you talk yourself out of getting started. Put yourself out there and start sharing your gifts with the world through the wonderful podcasting. You have both the power and the potential to reach more people than you could ever imagine online, so long as you are willing to take the first step. My fellow entrepreneur, today is the day for you to get started with podcasting for your business. Get better as you go. And see what happens from there. No matter what boss, remember to enjoy the journey and make it your own.
