There are so many different things that you can do with a blog. For the most part we use our blogs to share information of interest to us, but as our audiences grow, you will find people asking if they can share their interesting things on your space.

Advertising is the popular method of choice when it comes to ‘sponsored sharing’, but quite a few bloggers opt to add a ‘directory’ feature to their blog as a way to share outside information and make a profit at the same time.

Your blog monetization challenge for today is to consider adding a ‘directory’ to your blog as a viable source of income. Ask yourself some questions:

What kind of directory would work best on your blog?
What kinds of categories would you include?
How much would you charge people to submit their information?
Would you want text only submissions or could they attach photos?
Would you want submissions to automatically be displayed or would you prefer to manually approve new entries as they are submitted?

These questions are a good starting point. You can either search wordpress for ‘directory plugins’ or you can Google search for ‘wordpress directory or classified themes’.

You will find there are quite a few options out there to choose from. But if you first start by answering these questions, they’ll give you a better sense of the kind of features you want your directory to include.

This was actually a classifieds theme that I found some time ago and super customized it to give people the ability to include all their social links, video and more. Sometimes when you find a theme you like, you need web developer like myself (services here) to customize it and add any missing features you’d like to have.
