Increase Sales: 3 Subscription Ideas to Increase Revenue and Improve Your Small Business Profits

Every business owner needs to work on generating steady sales through repeat business. Whether you are a new or established entrepreneur, consider adding at least one subscription model to your business growth plan. As a full-time mompreneur, I’ve been strategically using subscription offers to generate steady sales for years as this is one of the easiest ways to keep your best customers happy and coming back for more. Today let’s explore a few super simple subscription ideas that work for me and just might work for you too.

Paid Newsletters

There are riches in niches. Every day people, possibly even you, pay for access to niche-specific newsletters with unique content they just can’t get anywhere else. For example, have you ever heard of the Oprah Daily Insider? Priced at about $50 annually, this paid membership model includes exclusive access to digital content, much of which is delivered through a paid email newsletter. The Template Club for entrepreneurs is one of my most successful paid newsletters to date. Over the years I have created several subscription programs using this model delivering a combination of templates, tutorials, ebooks, and other digital downloads to clients who want ongoing access to my best and my newest digital content.

Think about it. What kind of content is your target audience consistently craving? What kind of audio would they like from you? What kind of videos would they watch from you? What kind of information, inspiration, motivation, or recommendations do they want to get from you? What kind of books would they love to read or learn about through you? Think about unique kinds of new content you could consistently create on your own or with a team? Maybe a digital magazine or exclusive podcast series? For example, the Oprah Daily Insider includes access to past issues of O, The Oprah Magazine. Beyond creating new content, make a list of your previously published content that can potentially be repurposed within a paid newsletter.

Virtual Conferences

Your ideal customers will jump at the chance to stay connected with you through direct communication. Consider offering your audience access to ongoing virtual conferences in the form of monthly calls or classes. You can focus on strictly providing coaching or mentorship, but the possibilities are endless. For example, as a business/content coach, I regularly host group training calls and webinars as part of my monthly mastermind focused on monetization, content creation, and marketing strategies for entrepreneurs. I also offer private business mentorship as part of my Insider Circle Program. Many of my clients and business partners lead live virtual sessions in a range of creative ways. I’ve worked with spiritual entrepreneurs who have thriving subscription businesses that focus on monthly prayer calls, readings, and community conversations. I’ve also worked with teachers, book lovers, and author entrepreneurs who successfully connect with their tribes via virtual book clubs offering invitations to monthly readings, discussions, or author interviews.

Get creative! Think about different types of calls or classes you would like to host on a regular basis. Specifically, focus on content you can confidently deliver for the long term or an extended period of time. Also consider the fact that you could provide direct access to you through private one-on-one sessions, group sessions, or a combination of the two. You can lead these sessions on your own, with co-creators, and different guest speakers each month. If creating a monthly calls or classes subscription model appeals to you, take some time to think about what kind of sessions you would like to lead or have previously experienced as a participant. Short-Term Project Programs

Offering ongoing subscription programs is great, but it’s not your only option. You might not be ready to launch a subscription model program indefinitely or you might be worried that you may not have enough content you can confidently deliver every month. If these are concerns for you, consider creating a short-term project program with subscription pricing payment options. Using this model you can create a program that helps your participants work on specific projects or goals over a predetermined period. Your role as teacher, mentor, or coach is to guide them through a clear path to accomplishing a desired outcome, which would be the ultimate purpose of your program.

Short-term project programs like incubators, intensives, or coaching programs, usually range from 6 Weeks to up to 12 Months. I’ve regularly host these types of short-term projects programs, some of which include Content to Cashflow, Write A Book A Week, Start to Finish, and Setup for Sales. Think about your ideal clients. Make note of specific projects or goals you can help them reach during a short period of time.

Hopefully, this list gets you excited about the possibility of adding a subscription model to your list of products and services. Do you think any of these options can work for you?
