Last week I designed the above “Landing Page” for one of my web clients: Cabell Publicity.com. During our initial consultation, my client wanted to know the difference between a Landing page and a Squeeze page. This is a question I get quite often, so I decided to share an overview and video of how it all works below.

For example: let’s say you are in the business of hair and you have a website where you sell hair products and blog about hairstyles. When people come to that site they have the option to browse, buy, or leave, as they see fit. Now let’s say you want to sell an amazing new hair dryer for women, rather than send people to your main website where they would have to search for the product or get lost in all the content there, it would be a better idea to send them to a landing page for that product.
Again, landing pages are one page websites created to sell a specific product, so there is no getting lost in a sea of content or getting distracted by other stuff. Landing pages generally include bold headlines to attract the viewers attention and then a very long page full of copy (text written to convince the person why they should buy the product), concluded with a big buy now button. The whole purpose of the landing page is to drive traffic to that one page and get as many people as possible to by your product. The web page image above, is again a landing page I designed for a client.
A squeeze page is a type of landing page. While landing pages are used to sell specific products, squeeze pages are used to build a specific list. Using the example above, let’s say the owner of the hair website wants to build her subscriber list. She might create a Squeeze Page to entice people to sign up to her newsletter. She might have big bold text at the top like, “Grow Long Beautiful Hair in 30 Days”. Under the text she might include a promo video in which she said, sign up and get my FREE Hair care guide. With a sign up form that allows people to quickly get access to her information.
A squeeze page does not include long copy or buy now options. It generally includes a sign up form and perhaps video or a free incentive to sign up because the objective with the squeeze page is to build your subscriber list, so you can stay connected with this list of people and convince them to buy over time.
Another question I get is what is the difference between a homepage and a landing page. A home page is simply the main page of your website; the first page people see when they visit your website.
If you need a web designer, feel free to contact me. If you’d like me to design one of these pages for you my rate is currently $179 for landing pages and $99 for squeeze pages. I finished the above landing page within 48 hours and my client was thrilled! She said:
“LaShanda was able to take our muddled, chaotic idea and QUICKLY put together incredible marketing tools which speak directly to our target market base. Her work is clean, contemporary, plain and simple, she is AMAZING! To say we would use her again is an understatement. I think if more small businesses used LaShanda Henry’s services, they would be able to see the forest for the trees, and not feel so overwhelmed. It doesn’t have to be so stressful when you have committed professionals like LaShanda Henry to guide you along the way. Thank you Ms. Henry, your work speaks for itself!”–AK Cabell, CEO of Cabell Publicity and Creative Services.
And within the first day of launching her new page, she started receiving positive feedback:
“Your website speaks for itself showcasing yours and Derbin’s talents! It’s laid out beautifully, targets the information in a flow the layperson can understand, promotes your services and prices clearly, and your pictures are HOT! I would hire you to promote me in a heartbeat!” -Michelle

Love your article. Very informative. My question is what if you do not have a personal website but a company website created for you. Can you have a landing or squeeze page?
Yes, if you want to create a custom ‘personal’ page to promote your product (even with a company website created for you) – you can use a landing page to put your own personal spin on the product – share your own testimony or those from people who have worked with you. The possibilities are endless, but the ultimate goal for your ‘landing page’ would be to sell one specific product or service.
