If you have ever tried to upload a large file to your wordpress website, maybe a long audio mp3 or video file, you may encounter a file size error message.

It’s frustrating, I know, but it’s not a wordpress issue. Most hosting companies set the upload file size pretty low, but it can be changed (in most cases) with a little tweaking.

Refer to the video / tutorial details below to find out how you can fix this issue. Note: If any of this is too complicated for you the easiest solution is to contact your hosting company or web designer and ask them to increase the file size for you.

Steps to Increase File Size
#1 – Log into your web host
#2 – Open your File manager and go to the root directory www
#3 – Open your ‘wp-admin’ directory
#4 – Create a New File named ‘php.ini’
#5 – Copy the code below and paste it into your new file
#6 – Save file changes and that’s it!

Copy and Paste the Code Below into the ‘php.ini’ File

upload_max_filesize = 64M
post_max_size = 64M
max_execution_time = 300

Once Updated the File Size Limits Should Increase

Then you should be able to go back to your wordpress blog and see the maximum upload file size changed, in this example it was changed from 10MB to 64MB.
