  • What Step are you at? Making Strides in Your Online Business

    0

Entrepreneurs need to have a healthy dose of self-reflection every now and again. Last week I had you take my Rock the Web Self Assessment Test to discover if you were doing the 7 Crucial Activities required to build a successful online business. This week I want you to do the following:

    • Make a List of the Top 5 things you want to accomplish
    • Look at the above image
    • Answer the question: “Which step have you reached today?”

Sometimes we think ourselves out of opportunities and say we “won’t do something” that we might be able really good at. Sometimes we say we can’t do something, when all we really need is the right information to get us started. And sometimes we fill ourselves with enough “I think I can” motivation to slowly, but surely get the job done!

Following the SistaSense Road to Success be proactive about finding the right people to give kind of information and encouragement that you need to move foward. Wherever you are in your online business goals, take this time to acknowledge where you are, so you can move one step closer to where you want to be.

  • Why is blogging not bringing in more business?

    0

Let’s be honest, the only people who really love to blog are bloggers. Most entrepreneurs who blog only do it because somebody told them it was good for business. But what do you do when your blogging isn’t bringing in business? How do you figure out what’s wrong? As an entrepreneur who blogs mainly to promote my business here are a few possible answers I can give to this very question:

You don’t have an audience. Stop me if this sounds like you: Your blog has content but there is no engagement because you lack an audience. Is it possible that your blog is completely separate from your business website and therefore non-existent to your current customers? Can people subscribe to your blog for updates? If they can subscribe, how many subscribers do you have? Are you regularly promoting your best blog content within your business and across different social media platforms? How often do people find your blog through search engines? Before your blog can drive traffic to your business, you need to ensure that you are driving traffic to your blog.

You are not selling anything. Stop me if this sounds like you: You understand that blogging is important, but you don’t want to come off as an aggressive salesman, so you focus on sharing a few posts about everything but your products and services. Everybody says content is king, so you write about a few interesting topics in your industry, maybe share a few anecdotes about your business, but you steer clear of selling anything fearing somebody is going to scream out, “Imposter! You are not a blogger; you just want me to buy your stuff!” That fear coupled with a desire to post content just for the sake of posting content usually results in the kind of inactive blog that no one reads or buys from because it lacks the authenticity and authority your audience is looking for. You need to work on creating a blog that resonates with your audience and shows that best that your business has to offer. Believe it or not you can have an engaging blog that drives traffic to your business if you are willing to learn how to create one.

You need more balance. As mentioned above, while some entrepreneurs completely avoid selling on their blogs others turn them into 24/7 pitch fests, which tends to create a different, but still undesirable result. Interesting, engaging, informative, shareable and purposeful; your blog needs to have all of the above if you want to use it as an effective brand building / marketing tool.

If your blog is lacking an audience, offers, and/or balance I would like to share my blogging for business solutions with you at She Rocks the Web, my 3 day weekend workshop for women entrepreneurs.

  • (video) ReCharge Your Business

    1

When you are your own boss pretty much anything goes. Somethings you try work well and other things turn out to be complete flops. As entrepreneurs we each need to figure out what works well for our respective businesses. I’ve been online for over ten years and working full time at home for 5 years. Over the course of all that time I’ve learned several ways to keep my business growth steady and I call this system my “RE-Factor” – 7 Ways to Re-Charge my business.

In the video above I share two strategies within the “RE-Factor”:

#1. How to Re-Brand Your Business
#2. How to Re-Adjust Your Offering / Sales Package

As I explain in this video, the last thing any business owner wants to do is have to close their doors. Beyond promotion and presentation, which seem to be the only two things most newbie entrepreneurs focus on, every entrepreneur needs to know how to cope with slow periods and turn every day into a great sales day.

Enjoy the video. It is apart of my new ‘Rock the Web’ video series inspired by my upcoming “She Rocks the Web“, 3 Day weekend workshop happening here in North Carlina. The will be sharing the complete “RE-Factor” system with those ladies who attend She Rocks the web AND I’ll be helping them with their blogs, websites, videos, plus more so be sure to join us and we’ll Rock the Web together!

  • BBWO Member Dawn Fitch On the Cover of Black Enterprise

    2

Here is your dose of motivation, inspiration, smart woman in business information for today. Dawn Fitch, creator of Pooka Pure and Simple, natural bath and body products, member of Black Business Women Online is featured on the March 2012 cover of Black Enterprise Magazine.

I am so very proud of Dawn as I have followed her business growth over the past five years and personally spoken with her about the process we go through as women entrepreneurs. Its a hard and challenging run, but its our passion and as Dawn’s success shows this it is the path we must passionately take to full fill our destinies.

What is so crazy is I logged onto BBWO and Facebook today and saw the cover and thought, “WOW, this is wonderful.” It was only yesterday that I featured the Black Enterprise photo shoot of Dawn Fitch on BBWO and truth be told it was only a few days earlier that I had invited Dawn to speak about the Business of Beauty for our upcoming SistaSense Power Circle TeleSummit because I consider her to be one of the powerful business women to know in my circle.

I say all that to say several things. Creating BBWO has been a blessing for me on so many levels because being around ambitious, innovative women like Dawn Fitch is what helps to create the thriving, supportive, community that BBWO has become. Moreover, I can not express enough that I have watched her business grow. I have watched Dawn build the website, launch events, promote her products, share her expertise on BBWO, support other business owners, open her own boutique and now grace the covers of Black Enterprise Magazine.

Ladies and gents this is what determination, dedication, do or die motivation looks like. You have to live, breath, eat, dream, and keep on dreaming and this is just a part of the Pookalita Story one cover is not the end of what Dawn has in store for us to see. Two months blogging, a few days tweeting isn’t going to get you or your business where it needs to be. The ladies in my Power Circle grind out! They push when folks are watching and they push even harder when folks are not because that is what you have to do to turn your success into a reality. No one else is going to do this for you.

I can not over emphasize the significance of being on a space like BBWO because you never know who you are going to meet and who we all are working so hard to become! And I can not over stress the significance of participating in something like the SistaSense Power Circle TeleSummit because this is how you get access to real women entrepreneurs, black business women who have been through what you are going through and know exactly what you need to do to get to the next level. I honestly think folks who have not signed up for the power circle are crazy because this group of women give so much genuine, life changing, business transforming information for practically nothing you are spinning your heels, racking your brains for the answers not realizing the right people are right in front of you.

I look at Dawn’s success as a testament to my belief that if you put in the work this year is the year to make things happen … to see things happen! I am sending out a big virtual hug to Dawn Fitch for all her hard work and success (click here to share your congrats too)! The blessings are flowing and this Pookalitas story has just begun to be told! As for you, I hope to see you proactively networking on BBWO and soaking in ALL the information my Power Circle is going to give on our upcoming Power Circle Telesummit.

And FYI Social Networking is NOT joining a network, putting up a profile and hoping the ‘right people’ find you. As busy as she is Dawn has always proactively shared videos, how-to articles, and thoughtfully participated in conversations on BBWO. If you want people to know and support you then you better make it your business to start knowing and supporting other people. Let the Church say AMEN as I get off my soapbox for today. Stay blessed and ALL about Business. -LaShanda
