Why He Hates You

From time to time I like to spotlight the books of Black Authors featured on Black Writers Connect. Today’s spotlight book is ‘Why He Hates You: How Unreconciled Maternal Anger is Destroying Black Men and Boys‘ by Janks Morton. I was first introduced to Janks’ work a few years back when he produced the very powerful, must-see documentary, ‘What Black Men Think‘. With the release of his new book, Janks provides us with a new opportunity to get to the root of the issues that continue to affect the black male community and cripple the  relationships between black men and women, black mothers and their sons.

The Truth about Selling eBooks and other Stuff Online

As someone who makes a living selling eBooks, let me tell you something that you need to know, but have yet to hear. There are two (just two) effective ways to sell eBooks (honestly most any digital content online). Before getting to the meat of this post, let me quickly say that most people don’t make money selling eBooks because they don’t do one f the two things I am going to mention. What they do (generally speaking) is slave over the eBook and the Cover and then put their book on a website, hoping that will be enough… but it’s not.

In my opinion, the only people who make good money selling eBooks are people who have ‘fans’ and/or people who know how to market high-demand eBooks. I break this concept down in my eBook, ‘How to Really Make Money Coaching Online,’ but I can tell you what I mean right now. I personally did not start writing eBooks in the hopes to make money at it. I started writing eBooks, because people kept asking me how to market their businesses online and/or get into social networking. At that point I already had an audience, mainly because of the advice I shared on social networks and the articles I wrote in my blog. When the light bulb hit me, (that other people found value in my words) I started writing eBooks. If you have a lot to say or you love to write (writing is honestly the easy part). As soon my first eBooks were done, the started to sell quickly via my blog and my social network.

How did they sell so quickly, without me spending any money on advertising? I already had a fan-base in the making between my social network, Black Business Women Online, and my sistasense.com blog. I already had people asking me for the information (many were waiting for me to create the right products for them). When you have an audience, it’s easier to get your eBook business off the grown. If no one knows you or follows you, its going to be hard to make any real money at selling eBooks. This is why I encourage you to learn more about blogging, social networking, and attracting customers. Every good internet marketer knows that you’ve got to have a growing fan-base if you want to have ever growing sales.

If you want to get into selling eBooks to make money online think about your starting point. If you are into network marketing, or coaching, or some sort of industry in which you teach others (ie) Information Entrepreneurship AND if people take notice and stay connected with you, then you have an audience. In this kind of situation, creating an eBook makes perfect sense. It allows you to diversify your products, tap into new streams of income, and increase your credibility as an expert in your field.

If you are practically invisible online you should start off by building your online presence and you can do this by:

  1. Learning How to Blog Online [more details]
  2. Learn How to Sell on Social Networks and Use Social Media Marketing to Increase Your Buzz [more details]
  3. Learn How to Drive Traffic to Your Website and Find Customers Online [more details]

The other big truth about selling eBooks is that if you don’t have a following, but you want to get into selling eBooks you should focus on writing about topics people are searching for. Every second of every day, people are desperately seeking out information online. Click here to read more about writing eBooks that Sell.

Get the Facts About Health Power 101

From time to time I like to spotlight the books of Black Authors featured on Black Writers Connect. Today’s spotlight book is ‘Health Power 101: the Complete Guide to Patient Empowerment‘ by Dr. Jeff Brown. Today more than ever Americans can not afford to be unaware when it comes to their health, a fact that Dr. Jeff Brown takes very seriously.

When asked why he wrote the book Health Power 101, Dr. Jeff stated:

Over the years as I’ve worked in emergency rooms, hospital wards, and in clinic settings, I’ve met thousands of patients with little knowledge of their personal health history. I have found that the few patients who keep any type of personal health record typically keep one that is incomplete or poorly organized. These findings concerned me. It is precisely this lack of knowledge that can expose a patient to disease, medical errors and medical mismanagement.

The only solution to this very common problem in America today is to empower people to be aware of and protect their most precious asset – their health. As a physician, I want to effectively treat my patients. Yet even more than that, I want everyone to have access to the tools they need to help them manage their health and track their medical history.

I’ve developed the Health Power 101 System so that everyone can maintain accurate personal health records and be more informed about their health.
