I recently did an interview for the Network Journal and the Hot Topic was websites. Should businesses have websites? Should businesses have blogs? And my response is yes and yes.

A Blog is important for your business. I personally believe that your blog can serve as a space to promote yourself or as a space to build relationships with your customers / readers.
The most important part of your blog is your content, quality content is a must! Number two on my list is your theme. With so many blogs online, I think the first way to make your blog stand out is with a theme that ‘pops’.

I’ve designed a few templates in the past, but I actually prefer shelling out a few bucks and buying premium themes. I know I know … me .. the no cost marketing nut .. *lol*. I do spend money, I just like to spend wisely.

Buying a premium theme in my opinion is a good idea because the good ones are SEO optimized, Ready for Analytics, Full of Widgets, and generally have ready-made sections for video, feed subscriptions, and ads.

The key to premium themes in my opinion is finding one that fits your blog content and then customizing that theme, so it  fits you. Most of my themes are premium themes that other people use, but I like to upgrade them with my only look and feel. I think that building a brand for your blog and business is important. You always want people to remember you and what you do!

I’ve used different premium themes on my different blogs, yes I don’t have just one .. there like my digital potato chips!

Anyway I get my themes from:

  1. WooThemes
  2. Elegant Themes
  3. Blogger Blog Templates

WooThemes - Get access to all our shiny themes by joining the club

When you get a premium theme, I highly recommend that you take the time to customize it. And remember that picking a theme is like picking a house. Don’t just go for the first pretty one you see, the details might now be the right one for you. Take your time and select the one that you feel is the right fit for you.
