Web Women Entrepreneurs ask SistaSense:  “What are some things I can do online to make some extra money on the web.” Generally they want to do one of the following:

  • Find a profitable way to spend their time online
  • Generate Extra Income by tapping into a web-based Side Hustle
  • Discover web business start up ideas that require no startup cost or minimal expense

Over the years I have shared different ways that I personally make money online, so today I decided to consolidate some of these recommendations into a list of 5 things that you can do to generate an extra $300 – $500 per month, which translates into an extra $3600 to $6000 per year.  I’m pretty sure everyone can use extra income:

  • To help supplement revenue from your primary business, especially during slow periods
  • To cover some of your small business expenses (hosting, freelance work, etc.)
  • To cover some of your personal monthly bills (utilities, car notes, gas, etc.)

Even though I am doing all the things detailed on the list below, ideally you want to focus on one thing to get you started. At the very least you can use this list to give you some direction and spark ideas about other revenue generators that might work best for you.

Before we get to my recommendations, let’s first talk about pricing. Below you will find the 7 most popular “low price points” among information entrepreneurs, internet marketers, coaches, and authors. I want to first give you an idea of:

  • What prices and offers might work best for you
  • How different price points affect the number of sales required to reach your profit goals

$2.99 product x 100 sales = $299
$2.99 product x 200 sales = $598

$5.00 product x 60 sales = $300
$5.00 product x 100 sales = $500

$7.00 product x 45 sales = $315
$7.00 product x 75 sales = $525
$27.00 product x 12 sales = $324
$27.00 product x 20 sales = $540

$49.00 product x 6 sales = $294
$49.00 product x 10 sales = $490

$60.00 product x 5 sales = $300
$60.00 product x 9 sales = $540

$97.00 product x 3 sales = $291
$97.00 product x 5 sales = $485
As you scroll through the figures above think about the following points:

  • Low price point offers are great because if you can clearly show the value, they are low-risk offers new customers feel comfortable trying.
  • If you currently sell and/or are thinking about selling a product or service what is the average price of your offer?
  • How much are you comfortable charging?
  • How many sales do you think you can really make each week vs. each month?

Key point: lower price point products require more sales to reach your profit goals.

Now that we have covered pricing and sales numbers, let’s get into my recommendations. Most of these income generators require little to know startup capital. And for the most part, they only depend on two things:

  • The time you are willing to invest in them
  • The skills you currently have or can acquire to successfully get them started and consistently make sales

My 5 Favorite Ways to Make an Extra $300 – $500 Online

I am a web designer, so most of my revenue comes from the websites I build for myself and the websites I build for clients. To supplement my income I also do the following –

  1. Affiliate Marketing – more specifically I recommend services to my web clients that I don’t offer, but I know they need. For example, every web client needs hosting and I recommend Hostmonster– because it is the one that I personally use.  5 sign-ups easily help me to reach the desired profit goal mentioned above. As I explain in my Affiliate Marketing Seriesalso included in my Marketing Formula (link below), look into the services you use and find at least 2-5 products with affiliate programs that you can consistently share with your audience. One of my friends is a speaker. He is often asked how he gets all these great speaking gigs and of course, he is always happy to share all the services that he uses with others. During one of our power sessions, he asked me to explain affiliate marketing to him and as soon as I gave him the break down, he quickly realized there was a great service that he uses that has an affiliate program, but he never signed up. He was shocked when I broke down how much money he could have made from all those referrals and of course, was very excited to get started with affiliate marketing after our call.
  2. Write eBooks – more specifically (20-45 page) information packaged pdfs that answer common questions among my target audience. I’ve been able to successfully sell eBooks for as little as $1 and eBook bundles for as much as $297.If you have a wealth of information inside of you, consider writing an ebook as a way to supplement your income. Today digital publications are in high demand because every day people are purchases eBooks on their Kindles, IPads, and other mobile devices. Amazon is looking for people like you with great ebooks to sell and the best part is when you produce eBooks and sell them on a space like Amazon they do all the work as far as creating a product page and giving you access to millions of readers ready to buy. As you can tell from the price breakdown above, you need at least 100 sales to make about $300 selling a 2.99 eBook, BUT if I have learned one thing selling eBooks online it is this: When it comes to low price point offers, your goal isn’t really to sell a bunch of one item. Your goal should be to create a series of low-priced books, so sales from each book can accumulate into a decent monthly return. People buy my digital products everyone, but not every product sells every week. If you have great information to share and focus on writing a few ebooks a month or a year, you can build yourself a nice library and I consistent stream of extra income.
  3. Sell a service – more specifically offer my knowledge and/or skill set to people willing to buy what I have to offer.  Over the past five years, I’ve worked my way up to making over $50,000 each year as a web designer and coach. Working with clients is a lot of work, but I’ve been able to tap into other service-based income streams that require less time, less work, and help to supplement my income.Outside of building websites, I also design graphic banners and headers for $45. I need less than 10 sales to generate $300 extra a month for only a few hours of work. And many times these smaller priced offers lead to an interest in larger web design packages. For the most part I use eJunkie to sell my digital products and services, but you can also look into websites like eLance and fiverrfor access to a steady influx of people who may need your help. You can also host training webinars and/or consultations. Be sure to review those other tutorials featured on SistaSense.com.
  4. Google AdSense Revenue – more specifically placing Google Adsense Ad Boxes on your website(s) and getting paid for the ads that people click from your space. Several years ago I made it a point to make sense of making money with Adsense (listen to my audio session here). My first goal was to make at least $10 per day, which translated into $300 per month. As I got better my goal increased to $30 per day, which translates into $900 per month. Today I bring in about $10,000 extra income from Google Adsense alone. If you maintain several websites or commit yourself to build one very popular website, Adsense has the potential to be a decent income generator for you as well.
  5. Continuity Programs – more specifically I’ve built a series of small and large subscription-based websites and programs to bring in extra income. For example, my ad network needs less than 20 subscribers to bring in the desired profit goals mentioned above and once I set it up, I didn’t have to do anything but update the banners in the rotation. As I mentioned above, you want to find your focus and start there. But as you build on these concepts think about this – if you have 3 avenues to generate an extra $500 per month you have the ability to add an additional $18,000 to your revenue every year. I’ve learned that when it comes to making money online, being resourceful, taking the time to build your following, and tapping into a few solid low price point offers can really go a long way.
