Any day of the week I will tell you that while I do love to blog, create youtube videos and send out tweets to attract customer attention, this stuff is all just an extension of classic “Word of Mouth Marketing” – aka referrals.

Remember my post Tweak vs Twitter? I don’t follow the masses who are honestly not making money. Any day of the week I will pass up the latest shine social media craze for the real marketing sales systems being used by entrepreneurs like Richelle Shaw, who has built multi-million dollar businesses and recently released her second book, “The Million Dollar Equation – How to Build A Million Dollar Business in 3 Years or Less”.

Think about it… people are going nuts over Re-tweets and losing sleep over Facebook Shares because essentially its all just our digital way of getting more people to quickly talk about our stuff.

Today I want you to ask yourself two simple questions:
How many referrals do I get from my previous customers?
How many ways do I work with my customers to generate referral sales?

As you know, I am a web designer. This may sound crazy to many, but I hardly do any local business promotion because I get new clients all the time online. People don’t really understand how that works, but its really simple… happy clients love to share me with their friends.

This past week alone I started a logo project for someone referred to be by a Facebook friend. And as a matter of fact my most recent web project also came from a Facebook referral. It’s kind of like Social Media and Referral Mania all rolled up into one!

Think about it. If you could get more people excited about sharing your business with others, how many more sales would you make? Aspiring entrepreneurs are often times fixated on finding new ways to find new customers, when much of their time would be better spent on discovering new ways to generate existing customer referrals.
